Cold sores or medically termed as herpes labialis is contagious and thus must be treated seriously. However, if one is a little bit hesitant to consult a doctor, there are actually home remedies that could actually cure cold sores by either relieving the pain it causes or by preventing some further transmission of disease.
Herpes labialis form the name it self is actually caused by two viruses. Herpes simplex type one and herpes simplex type to. Indeed such disease is communicable thus it is of utmost importance to find a treatment that would actually make it less contagious. To do that, one might need to do some research t be able to learn some techniques.
Herpes labialis is much more similar with mouth blisters but of a serious nature, considering that these are caused by viruses. It mostly affects the lips thus termed as such and often resides on the skin surrounding the mouth or at the lips itself. It looks red, pretty swollen and would sometimes feel painful.
Such blisters have different severity, and others can actually multiply as fast as twenty four hours especially when one keeps on touching it or pricking on it. Hence it is best not to touch the blister with one's unclean hands ans instead leave it be. It may be best to excuse oneself from work to avoid transmitting the disease and embarrassment.
To be able to treat herpes labialis, one is encouraged to roam around his house as some of the treatments are just in it. For example ice cubes and milk. When one is having mouth blisters, one is advised to compress an ice on it, most especially if it is only about to erupt or newly erupted blisters. The coolness of the ice will be able to prevent the blisters form multiplying and could somehow ease the pain.
Milk can also be one way to relieve the pain, soak a cotton with milk and gently pat it on the blisters and feel some relief after wards. More so, milk is said to contain monocarpin that may have some anti viral effects. This could be a smart way to prevent transmission as the viruses will be weakened to some extent.
One is encouraged to try lip balms, preferably petroleum jellies and pat some on the lips, this could prevent the lips from getting dried up and at the same time prevent the blisters from getting worse as well. Another way to prevent transmission is to compress a warmed tea bag on the affected area. The tannic acid of the tea is said to combat the virus hence preventing it to cause further development.
Such techniques may sound a little unusual to cure cold sores, but they have been tried by many people and have provided relief and even permanent treatment. Natural remedies are always recommended as these have lesser or no side effects and a certified money saver as well.
